European countries and the EU institutions tried to resolve the “migration crisis” by securitization and militarization of borders especially on the Western Balkan route. One of the ways to become part of the gradually arising migration corridor was to undertake the journey across the Balkans together with the border crossers. I will introduce the multivalent character of the borders in the form of a diary of this journey in 2015 from Greece to Hungary to capture the multiple ways that borders can operate.
