Český překlad, Dopisu Humbert z Romans († 1277) pátého Magistra Řádu kazatelů (dominikánů) opatřený poznámkami a citacemi, zpřístupňuje velmi vlivný a rozšířený středověký okružní Dopis o třech řeholních slibech poslušnosti, chudoby a čistoty, a s nimi spojenými ctnostmi, jako je pokora a trpělivost. Jeho cílem je povzbudit řeholníky v jejich spiritualitě. Humbertův pohled je mistrnou psychologickou a teologickou reflexí, nad konventním životem, které nechybí humor a která počítá s lidskou slabostí a zároveň vybízí ke kazatelskému povolání. Jeho pohled je plný naděje a důvěry v sílu Boží milosti.

The Czech translation of the Letter on the Three Substantial Vows of Religious of Humbert of Romans († 1277), the Fifth Master of the Order of Preachers (Dominicans), accompanied by notes and citations, make available a very influential and diffused medieval circular letter on the religious vows of obedience, poverty and chastity, and on the related virtues like humility and patience. Its goal is to encourage the friars in their spirituality. Humbert's point of view is a masterful psychological and theological reflection on the conventual life, which does not lack humor, counting on human weakness and at the same time challenging the vocation of preachers. His view is full of hope and confidence in the power of the grace of God.
