Black Carbon (BC) contributes significantly to the radiative forcing of the Earth (Bond et al., 2013). BC coating by other materials, especially brown carbon (BrC) can lead to absorption enhancement and uncertainties concerning the estimates of BC radiative forcing (Wang et al., 2016). This study is a detailed characterization of aerosol absorption properties based on 5-years BC and Elemental Carbon (EC) measurements at a Central European rural background site.
