Kapitola sleduje literární obrazy setkání se starými ženami ve středověkých rytířských románech a ve fabliaux. Postavy starých žen mohou pečovat nebo předávat zkušenosti a moudrost, především však představují kontrastní memento budoucího rozkladu a smrti. Autor se zabývá zvláště problémem extrémně sexualizovaných zpodobnění starých žen v literárních pramenech.

The chapter follows the literary depictions of encounters with old women in medieval chivalric romances and fabliaux. Old women characters can raise up, foster and mediate experience and wisdom to their charges, but they are also a contrasting memento of future degradation and death. The analysis is devoted especially to the way these historical sources strongly sexualize the characters.
