Publikace obsahuje teoretické studie zkoumající téma udržitelné architektury z různých úhlů pohledu. Stať Petra Kratochvíla „Firmitas, utilitas, venustas a udržitelnost“ se soustřeďuje na otázku, zda máme udržitelnost chápat jako specifickou vlastnost architektonického díla, nebo zda je nezbytnou podmínkou jakékoliv dobré architektury. Další část publikace představuje a interpretuje 60 příkladů českých a zahraničních realizací, které ilustrují environmentálně ohleduplná a zároveň esteticky kvalitní architektonická a urbanistická řešení.

The book begins with theoretical studies exploring the theme of sustainable architecture from various points of view. The essay of Petr Kratochvíl “Firmitas, Utilitas, Venustas and Sustainability” focuses on whether we should understand sustainability as a specific quality of an architectural work, or whether it´s a necessary condition of every good piece of architecture. Following parts of the book present and interpret 60 examples of Czech and international realizations illustrating different aspects of environmentally friendly and at the same time aestheticaly splendid excellent of architecture and town planning.
