The author examines communist propaganda against religion and responses of particular churches with special regard paid to the first two decades of communist regime in Czechoslovakia. He concludes the ideologues and policymakers were not particularly successful in terms of spreading atheism, and indeed, ironically, they prepared the ground for today’s spiritual revolution in Czech society.
