AnnotationOptical waveguides were fabricated in zinc-silicate glasses containing erbium and ytterbium using Ag - 4Na+ ion exchange. Furthermore, it has been confirmed that the increase in luminescence intensity could be achieved by energy transfer between the energy levels of isolated silver and erbium ions, eliminating the influence of surface plasmon resonance usually caused by the presence of silver nanoparticles.
