J. Hendl poukázal na chybnou statistickou analýzu párových binárních dat v publikovaném článku L. Herouta. Ukazuje se, že autor nesprávné analýzy "vynalezl", nejspíš nevědomky, potenciálně užitečný nástroj – statistiku, která je svou povahou nepárová, ale poskytuje dolní odhad McNemarova chí-kvadrátu. Metoda v původní podobě ovšem fungovala dobře jen v některých případech a musela být lépe domyšlena, aby dávala vždy nejpřesnější dolní mez pro McNemarovu statistiku.

J. Hendl pointed to a wrong statistical analysis of paired binary data in a published paper by L. Herout. It is demonstrated that the author of the erroneous analysis “invented”, most likely unconsciously, a potentially useful tool – a statistic of unpaired nature yielding a lower bound of McNemar chi-square. The method as is, however, works well only in some cases, and is further elaborated in the present text, so as to make the lower bound of the McNemar statistic universally tight.
