Amongst the estate of the first Czechoslovak president, Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk, which is presently held in the T. G. Masaryk Institute Archive in Prague, are two Serbian passports which were issued by the foreign diplomatic office of the Serbian kingdom to Masaryk during the First World War. From 1915 to 1917 these passports allowed the exiled Czech politician to travel across Europe in his efforts to break up Austro-Hungary and establish an independent Czechoslovak state.
