Příspěvek tematizuje vztahy dvou kulturních a politických osobností židovského původu, které pojilo rodinné pouto: brněnského advokáta, sběratele, historika práva a politické osobnosti moravských německých liberálů Alfreda Fischela, a spisovatele a karikaturisty Františka Gellnera, jenž byl jeho synovcem. Sledovány jsou proměny tohoto vztahu s důrazem na střet těchto dvou osobností v politickém životě Brna a Moravy v době před první světovou válkou, kdy Gellner působil v brněnských Lidových novinách a na jejich stránkách svého strýce prezentoval coby politického nepřítele s využitím protižidovských předsudků. Autorka se pokouší jednak objasnit Gellnerovy politické názory a jejich místo na politické mapě moravských poměrů, jednak na dvou představitelích české židovské komunity vzdálených si jednu generaci předvést rozdílné myšlenkové zázemí, které provázelo uvažování o postavení židovské minority v druhé polovině devatenáctého století a na počátku století dvacátého.

The paper is devoted to the relationships of two culture and political life figures, both of whom were of Jewish origin and who were family related to one another: one of them is Alfred Fischel, a lawyer, a collector, a legal historian and in politics an exponent of German liberal party in Brno; the other one is his nephew, an author and a cartoonist František Gellner. The study focuses on changes in their relationship, emphasising their clash in the political life of Brno and Moravia in the period before the First World War. At that time, Gellner worked for the Brno political newspaper Lidové noviny and represented his uncle on its pages as a political enemy, using anti-Semitic arguments. The author aims to clarify, what Gellner’s political views and position in the regional Moravian politics were. Besides that, the two representatives of Czech Jewish community one generation apart exemplify different sets of ideas related to the topic of the position of Jewish minority in the society during the second half of the 19th century and at the beginning of the 20th century.
