Studie je založena na analýze vzpomínek tří generací předních českých etnografů a etnografek na období jejich vysokoškolského studia před rokem 1989. Autor ve své práci demonstruje různé teoretické a metodologické vlivy, které ovlivnily výuku národopisu v Praze a v Brně v druhé polovině dvacátého století, přičemž se zaměřuje zejména na vliv Antonína Václavíka a Karla Chotka.

Study is based on three generations of ethnologists' reminiscences of their own studies, which reflect the protagonists' perceptions of their teachers and the atmosphere in higher education institutes at that time. Author very clearly demonstrates the extent to which tuition of ethnology and the methodological conception of the field was influenced well by prominent researchers Karel Chotek and Antonín Václavík, whose successors in Prague and Brno can be labelled under their specific research schools.
