Kniha rozdělená do dvou svazků obsahuje katalog barokních nástěnných maleb v klášterech benediktinů v Čechách a na Moravě. Do katalogu jsou zařazeny monumentální malířské cykly ze 17. a 18. století v klášterech v Břevnově, Broumově, Rajhradu, Kladrubech, na Starém Městě v Praze, a Sázavě a ve Svatém Janu pod Skalou, ale také ve farních kostelech na Broumovsku a v dalších objektech, které souvisely s působením benediktinů. Malby jsou interpretovány s ohledem na funkci architektury. Soubory katalogových hesel jsou uvedeny studiemi, které uměleckohistorickou interpretaci nástěnných maleb zařazují do širšího historického kontextu monastické kultury. Texty doprovází početný soubor barevných fotografií.

The book, divided into two volumes, contains a catalogue of the baroque ceiling paintings in the monasteries of the Benedictines in Bohemia and Moravia. Different monumental painterly cycles of the 17th and 18th centuries from Břevnov, Broumov, Rajhrad, Kladruby, Prague Old Town, Sázava and Svatý Jan pod Skalou, but also in the parish churches in the Broumov Region and in other buildings, which were related to the activities of Benedictines are incorporated into the catalogue. The paintings are interpreted with regard to the function of the architecture. Sets of the catalogue entries are introduced by essays, which embed the art historical interpretation to the wider context of the monastic culture. The texts are accompanied by numerous color illustrations.
