Tato kapitola se věnuje – na příkladu Mosulu – ničení historických a archeologických památek ze strany Islámského státu. Jedná se o svého druhu vůbec první studii, která systematicky pojednává o destrukčních aktivitách této teroristické organizace v období ca. jednoho roku od dobytí města. Na základě dat pocházejících z analýz satelitních snímků, arabských médií i propagandistického materiálu produkovaného Islámským státem tato kapitola vysvětluje hlavní cíle systematického ničení a zasazuje jej do kontextu náboženského salafitského diskurzu o přípustnosti ničení funerální architektury

This chapter deals with destruction of historical and archaeological sights in Mosul by ISIS. It is the first study ever that systematically tracks destruction activities of this terrorist organization during the first year of their rule over the town. On the basis of data steming from the analysis of satellite imagery, Arabic-written media as well as ISIS propaganda material, this chapter identifies main targets of the systematic destruction and puts them in the context of the Salafi religious discourse on permissibilty of destruction of funerary architecture
