Micro-electromembrane extractions with multiple aqueous and organic phases have been shown suitable for selective pretreatment of untreated biological fluids. Usefulness of this approach has been demonstrated on simultaneous extractions of anions and cations and on selective extractions of basic drugs based on their acid-base strength.
