AnnotationWe analyze the stability of quasistatic probes immersed in a steady nonequilibrium medium (e.g., containing active particles). We prove that under certain conditions the nonequilibrium driving in the medium always enhances stability of the probe around its stationary configuration. An explanation for this stiffening effect is proposed.
