The changes of the carbon cycle in intensively managed agroecosystems (that cover 50 % of Europe) significantly contribute to the knowledge of Global Climate Change. A new ecosystem station for eddy covariance, biometeorological and physiological measurements was established in Křešín in April 2012. Here we present the first results including the footprint, wind analysis, and CO2 flux measurements. The prevailing wind directions are W and SE. The footprint analysis shows that in W and SE directions the agroecosystem is the principal source area for eddy flux measurements. The result is less significant for a stable atmospheric stratification, but those data have been excluded from the analysis in about 60 % as a result of insufficiently developed turbulence. In addition to eddy covariance fluxes we focused on the CO2 flux (an important greenhouse gas whose molecules interfere with basic physiological processes, photosynthesis and respiration). In an agroecosystem, the CO2 flux has a clear annual course related to the development of crop and weather conditions. We show the connections between the flux and the seasons of the year as well as the weather parameters.
