The energy consumption connected with a physical activity of the human body depends on the intensity, frequency, type and duration of the performed movement. This paper submits a new approach to the evaluation of the energy consumption during a physical activity provided that the human body can be considered as open thermodynamic system that exchanges the energy and mass with its environment. The energy balance law was implemented into the computer model of the human cardiovascular system developed at the IT CAS and this modified program enables computation of the entropy production and thereby the energy consumption under a physical activity of the human body.
