The statistical model of van der Waals and Platteeuw (1959) is frequently used in gas hydrate modeling. Various modifications of this model have been proposed, however, the best hydrate model available up to date is the model proposed by Ballard and Sloan (2002). In an earlier work by Jäger et al. (2013), it was demonstrated for pure CO2 hydrates that the model for gas hydrates inspired by Ballard and Sloan can be combined with highly accurate Helmholtz equations of state for other phases. In this work, a new lattice parameter correlation for sI and sII hydrate formers is presented. Especially the pressure dependence of the lattice parameter was revised by making use of the Murnaghan (1944) equation of state for solids. The impact of the lattice parameter on the gas hydrate model was studied. It was found, that the bulk modulus of gas hydrates has a strong impact for high pressures and an almost negligible influence at moderate pressures.
