The objective of the book is to provide description and evaluation of social housing systems in 12 post-socialist countries. The evaluation used context-sensitive approach and was inspired by concepts of welfare economics. Based on detailed description of diverse models, their comparison, and an evaluation of their sustainability, efficiency and effectiveness the authors were able to define the main barriers to the development of social housing in post-socialist context. They conclude with theoretical generalizations on mutual path dependent relation between short-term policy decisions and long-term housing system consequences.
