    The increased expression of HCN channels in reactive astrocytes was detected on mRNA and protein levels following ischemic injury and the presence of functional HCN channels and their modulation by cAMP and ZD7288 was revealed by patch-clamp technique. Our results demonstrate that regardless of the type of ischemic injury, reactive astrocytes express HCN channels, which could therefore be an important therapeutic target in post-stroke therapy.
