AnnotationA novel way of continuous hardening of a steel body is modeled, in common with the corresponding control. The process of hardening is realized by induction pre-heating and additional heating by a beam of a laser fixed on a robotic hand. The optics of the laser contains a two-channel pyrometer measuring the temperature in the middle of the radiated spot of the surface, which affects the power of the laser and/or the velocity of movement. The heat produced on the surface layers is fast transferred by conduction into the interior of material. The mathematical model of the process is solved numerically and the most important results are discussed.
