Ateroskleróza a její komplikace postihuje muže i ženy, ale problémům tohoto onemocnění u žen je dosud věnována mnohem menší pozornost. Vyšetření v ambulanci EuroMISE centra vyhledalo více žen než mužů, ženy byly starší než muži. Rizikový profil žen (faktory antropometrické, klinické, laboratorní a socioekonomické) byl poněkud příznivější než u mužů, ale ani u žen nebyl zdaleka optimální. Vyhledávání, prevenci a intervenci rizikových faktorů aterosklerózy u žen by bylo třeba věnovat zvýšenou pozornost.

By atherosclerosis are affected men and women too, but it is given much less attention to these diseases in women. In the outpatient department of EuroMISE Centre in Prague, more women then men were examined. Women were older, their risk profile (factors antropometric, clinical, socio-economic and laboratory) was some better then in men, but not near to optimal values. It is necessary to bring advance attention to the investigation, prevention and the treatment of risk factors of atherosclerosis in women.
