AnnotationCs promoted Co3O4 oxides were prepared by impregnation of calcined Co hydrotalcite (molar ratio CoII:CoIII = 4:2) with an aqueous solution of Cs nitrate or carbonate. Samples were characterized by chemical analysis, physical adsorption of nitrogen and TPR-H2. Catalytic decomposition of nitrous oxide was carried out in a stainless steel plug flow reactor and in the temperature range 300–450°C. The influence of oxygen, water vapor and nitric oxide on conversion of nitrous oxide was examined, simulating waste gas from HNO3 production. Superior catalytic activity of prepared catalysts was observed.
