Kniha přináší, jako první publikace v českém jazyce, základní přehled konfuciánství v celé jeho rozmanitosti od nejstarších dob až do současnosti. Autor se zaměřuje téměř výlučně na vývoj tohoto filosoficko-náboženského systému na území Číny, pouze výjimečně upozorňuje na rozšíření konfuciánství i do jiných zemí východní Asie. Publikace přináší rozsáhlé informace nejen o klasickém konfuciánství a neokonfuciánství, ale i o moderním konfuciánství 20. a 21. století a nejvýznamnějších představitelích všech vývojových období.

The book brings, as the first publication in the Czech language, basic overview of Confucianism in all its diversity, from ancient times to the present. The author focuses almost exclusively on the development of philosophical and religious system in China, only rarely draws attention to the expansion of Confucianism to other East Asian countries. The publication contains extensive information not only on classical Confucianism and Neo-Confucianism, but also modern Confucianism of the 20th and 21th centuries.
