Nastiňuje nejdůležitější strategie, které dalité postupně vyvinuli, aby se zbavili stigmatu nedotýkatelnosti, mohli se bránit před útlakem vyšších kast a usilovat o povznesení své komunity. Tyto snahy probíhaly zhruba na pěti rovinách: náboženské, politické, ekonomické, sociální a literární. Článek popisuje nejen použité prostředky, ale také krátce hodnotí dosažené výsledky. Emancipace dalitů šla ruku v ruce s jistou mírou resistence, tedy snahou zachovat si své tradiční hodnoty či vytvořit si některé hodnoty nové. To se projevilo zejména v oblasti ideologie (hledání vlastní minulosti) a v oblasti literatury, kde vznikl zcela nový specifický literární proud zvaný „dalitská literatura“. Description in English The article deals with emancipation of Dalits in India. It outlines various strategies that Dalist have gradually evolved to get rid of stigma of untouchability and to be able to bring progress to their community. These efforts can be divided into five spheres: religious, political, economic, social and literary. The article not only describes the used means but also briefly evaluates the achieved results. The emancipation of Dalits went hand in hand with a certain degree of resistance. Dalits tried to preserve their traditional values or to create new ones.
