    The diversification and multiplication of United Nations Security Council’s mandated operations after the Cold War in the domain of the maintenance and restoration of international peace and security requires a clarification of their legal regimes. The article sheds light on the two main tools vested with the power to use force, the UN-led “Blue Helmets” and UN-authorized military operations. It highlights their common coercive basis as well as converging and diverging legal elements.
