In common garden experiment we demonstrated that jewelweed populations from sites invaded by exotic Impatiens parviflora differentiated from invasion-free populations. Specifically, we found significant trait divergence with regard to plant size, germination phenology and phenotypic plasticity. Future research should examine more closely the adaptive value of these changes and their genetic basis.
