The book is a philosophical polemic between Frank Michelman and Alessandro Ferrara about kinds of creating and justifying constitution. At the same time, the book deals with issues closely connected with the theme: human rights, democracy, judgment, identity, patriotism. The book is important also because the current discussion about the European constitutional treaty.
