AnnotationA comparison of induction heating of a ferromagnetic disk in transverse and longitudinal magnetic fields is presented. The aim of the paper is to decide which way of heating is more convenient from the viewpoint of the heating time. The numerical model of the problem is solved in the quasi-coupled formulation (both magnetic and temperature fields are calculated using a single stiffness matrix, the field of displacements is solved additionally). The most significant material nonlinearities and temperature dependencies are taken into account. The results are compared and discussed.
