Phenomena accompanying interaction of plasma jets with solid materials were investigated. The jets produced at rear surface of laser-irradiated double-foil Al/Mg targets interacted with the Mg wall preheated by the action of high-energy photons, particle and laser beams. The environmental conditions in the near-wall regions were analyzed using high-resolution X-ray spectroscopy and temporally resolved imaging. The deceleration profiles of the incident Al ions were quantitatively characterized via Doppler shifts of the optically thin J-satellite from the hydrogenic Al resonance spectra. The found velocity oscillations were compared with the plasma models including the 2D arbitrary Lagrangian Eulerian hydrocode PALE and the multifluid code MULTIF. The interlocked experimental and theoretical methods demonstrate a potential of advanced X-ray diagnosis in investigation of the plasma-wall interactions.
