Ligandem aktivované iontové kanály zprostředkují synaptický přenos v centrální nervové soustavě. Jsou to integrální proteiny nacházející se v cytoplazmatické membráně nervových buněk. Na příkladu acetylcholinových, glutamátových a GABAA receptorů je v tomto článku ukázán současný stav znalostí o vztahu mezi ligandem aktivovanými iontovými kanály a cholesterolem membrán
Ligand gated ion channels mediate the synaptic transmission in the central nervous system. These are integral proteins localized in cell membranes of nerve cells. In this review, we use acetylcholine, glutamate and GABAA receptors to demonstrate current state of knowledge about the modulation of ligand gated ion channels by cell membrane cholesterol
