AnnotationThe paper presents research and application of image processing and analysis methods for detection and quantification microcracks in test specimens of coarse grain sandstone. The proposed approach was applied for study of microfracturing in rocks that failed during laboratory press loading at triaxial state of stress. The microcracks were determined on thin sections saturated by epoxy with admixture of fluorescent dye. Accordingly, the proposed methods allow for fully automatic segmentation of transcrystalline and intercrystalline microcracks.
