Článek se věnuje Galtonovu významu pro vznik a rozvoj moderní matematické statistiky a zmiňuje i jeho přínos v daktyloskopii a genetice. Description in English Francis Galton (1822-1911) was a versatile English scientist who laid the foundations of regression and correlation analysis in mathematical statistics. He is also the author of one of the oldest nonparametric hypothesis tests.
