AnnotationPhosphorus is not welcomed in the water environment in excessive concentrations, which can cause eutrophication and water bloom. Surface water pollution by phosphorus is caused via point and diffusive sources. Main point sources are municipal and industrial wastewater treatment plants. Although there are applied technologies to remove phosphorus from the wastewater, phosphorus is then attached in the flocks where it is in not bioavailable form (in the case of precipitation by ferric or alum salts) or it is in the biomass containing high concentrations of heavy metals and therefore not recyclable in the agriculture.
