Description in English The study proposes an interpretation of Hegel's thesis about the death of God in the context of religious epistemology. Hegel's thesis has two interconnected meanings: metaphorical and christological. Hegel uses it metaphorically to describe the consequence whereto leads the position of rationalist theology, that denies the possibility of the knowledge of God. Then he uses it also literally, when he argues, that the death of God, as well as the "death of death", are necessary conditions for the knowledge of God. Hegel develops his speculative christology to detect both of these conditions. His own position within religious epistemology is to be described as an epistemological realism: accordingly, God is not reducible to the content of religious consciousness, nevertheless he is knowable, namely under condition that he lets himself to know to the finite consciousness in the person of Jesus Christ.
