    AnnotationBasic idea of algebraic and geometric approach to learning Bayesian nets is recalled. A simpler algebraic representative, called the characteristic imset, is proposed. It is a 0-1 vector, obtained from the former representative, standard imset, by an affine trensformation. It is closer to graphical decription. The relation to the essential graph is established.
