    AxB0.2-x(TeO2)0.8 glasses where A=Li2O, BaO, ZnO and B=TiO2, Nb2O5 and Bi2O3 were prepared. Optical band gap was determined in the region 3.33-3.61 e V, nonlinear refractive index was estimated at around 0.85x10-11 esu. Qualitative correlation in TeO4-TeO3, TeO3+1 conversion and optical band gap values was found.
