Právní informatika je relativně nový empirický obor, s terminologií zcela odlišnou od pojmů typických pro teorii práva, jenž se věnuje informačním aspektům práva. Analyzuje právo na základě speciálně pro tento účel vytvořených databází právních dokumentů.

Legal informatics is a relatively new empirical field dealing with information aspects of law. Its terminology differs substantially from the terms typical of Theory of Law. Legal informatics analyses law on the basis of databases of legal documents created especially for this purpose.
