The article describes a nowcasting method of precipitation based on an advective-statistical algorithm (ADSTAT), which utilizes radar, satellite, lightning and numerical weather prediction model prognostic data. Both probabilistic and quantitative 3-h precipitation forecasts are issued for squares 9 km by 9 km covering the area of the Czech Republic. The probabilistic forecast predicts the probability of mean areal (81 km2) 3-h precipitation reaching or exceeding given thresholds. The output of the quantitative forecast is the mean area precipitation in the squares. The evaluation of both types of forecasts is presented.
