Počátkem 50. let 20. století se komunistický režim dostal do hluboké krize hospodářské, sociální i politické. Teprve po smrti J. V. Stalina a K. Gottwalda se vedení KSČ podařilo odstranit nejvážnější problémy a v letech 1953-1955 režim opět dočasně stabilizovat.
In the early 1950s the communist regime fell in to a deep crisis – economic, social and political. The leaders of the KSC – Communist Party of Czechoslovakia – managed to overcome the most serious problems only after the deaths of J. V. Stalin and K. Gottwald, and to restore temporary stability of the regime in 1953-1955.
