The waves are generated by an element, which includes an exploding wire acting perpendicularly to the shell. A holo-camera, with a double pulse ruby laser light source, is used to record state of wave propagation. A normal point-wise component of motion associated with the wave propagation in the coconut shell is measured by means of miniature accelerometers. The proposed method was applied to analysis of the impact loading on the coconut in order to contribute to the knowledge base concerning the mechanisms by which coconut shell and coconut meat are separated.
