Von den textkritischen Änderungen, derer Ergebnis der Text des Fragments DK 22 B 80 ist, wie er von Diels-Kranz geboten wird, ist der Vorchlag, statt des handschriftlichen χρεώμενα χρεών zu lesen, unmotiviert. Die handschriftliche Lesung ist stylistisch und rhythmisch einwandfrei. Es wurde aber in den bisherigen Versuchen, an dem handschriftlichen χρεώμενα festzuhalten, keine annehmare semantische Interpretation geboten.

The fragment DK 22 B 80 was subjected to critical interventions, which differ in their value and acceptability. The proposal of reading χρεών „necessity“instead of the participle χρεώμενα is unmotivated and both stylistically and rhythmically inappropriate. However i, no acceptable interpretation of the meaning of the manuscript χρεώμενα has been given up to now.

Fragment DK 22 B 80 byl vystaven řadě textověkritických zásahů, které mají rozdílnou hodnotu. Návrh číst místo rukopisného participia χρεώμενα substantivum χρεών "nutnost" není motivován a neposkytuje stylisticky a rytmicky vhodné čtení. V dosavadních pokusech o zachování rukopisného χρεώμενα však nebyla podána přijatelná interpretace. Systematickým rozborem sémantiky slovesa χρᾶσθαι a zvláště jeho užití u Hérodota byl zjištěn význam "jednat, působit, fungovat", který umožňuje interpretovat γινόμενα πάντα κατ' ἔριν καὶ χρεώμενα ve smyslu „na základě sporu vše vzniká a funguje“
