A. Comenius drei geeignete Lehrbücher: ein Textbuch, eine Grammatik und ein Wörterbuch (Lexikon). Der Schüler könne eine solide Kenntnis der Fremdsprache auf der entsprechenden Ebene nur vermittels aller drei Handbücher erwerben. Im Beitrag wird die Beziehung und Komplementarität zwischen dem Textbuch, das nach heutiger Terminologie als onomasiologisches Wörterbuch bezeichnet werden kann, und dem Lexicon januale als seinem semasiologischen Gegenteil behandelt. Comenius elaborated for every stage of the the language teaching curriculum (i.e. Vestibulum, Janua, Atrium) three types of appropriate books (manuals): a basic textbook containing sentences, a grammar book and a "lexicon" (dictionary). Only by using all three manuals the pupil could fully master the respective degree of language knowledge. The paper deals with the correlation and complementarity between the textbook which, in modern terms, may be regarded as a kind of onomasiological dictionary, and the lexicon itself as its semasiological counterpart.
