Anhand der Interpretation von drei verschiedenen Quellen (der Umfrage mit 500 tschechischen Bewohnern des Grenzgebiets, 10 halb-strukturierten Interviews mit Bürgermeistern der Gemeinden im Grenzgebiet und 2 Tief-Interviews mit Bewohnern des Grenzgebiets) zeigt sie, wie die Grenze als Trenn- oder Bindungs-Linie wirkt, welche Veränderungen auf dem Gebiet der nachbarschaftlichen Beziehungen nach 1989 entstanden sind und wie diese von Bewohnern des Grenzgebiets interpretiert werden. Ein anderes Thema der Analyse ist die Weise, wie die Tschechen ihre österreichischen Nachbarn sehen. Description in English The study deals with the perception of Czech/Moravian-Austrian borderland and of changes in this region both after 1989 (after the fall of the Iron Curtain) and after 2004 (after the EU-Enlargement). It interprets three different sources (a questionnaire with 500 Czech inhabitants of borderland made in 2006, semi-structured interviews with 10 mayors of towns and villages in the Czech/Moravian-Austrian borderland and 2 deep-interviews with inhabitants of this region). It shows how the borderline works in the minds of inhabitants of this region as a line that can both divide and unite. It describes the changes that the borderland has gone through after the fall of the Iron Curtain after 1989 and ways how they are interpreted by the inhabitants. The study pays its attention also to ways how the Czech inhabitants see the Austrians.
