The effect of WO3 on the properties and structure of zinc borophosphate glasses was investigated. Homogeneous glasses of the composition (100−x)[0·5ZnO.0·1B2O3.0·4P2O5].xWO3 were obtained within the concentration range of x=0–40 mol% WO3, whereas glasses with x=45 and 50 contain microinclusions of β-WO3. The structure of the glasses was studied by Raman and infrared spectroscopy, combined with 31P and 11B MAS NMR spectroscopy. Raman spectra identify vibrations of WO6 and W–O–W bonds, respectively. Compositional changes in the 11B MAS NMR spectra reveal a partial conversion of BO4 to BO3 units with increasing WO3 content, and the replacement of B–O–P bridges by B–O–W bridges.

Ramanova spektra identifikují vibrace WO6 a W-O-W vazeb. 11B MAS NMR spektra odhalují částečnou konverzi BO4 na BO3 jednotek s rostoucím obsahem WO3 content, a nahrazení B–O–P můstků B–O–W můstky.
