AnnotationThe study of biomarkers in children raises several ethical issues. Many of these arise in research involving children generally, others are more particularly related to the collection and storage of specimens, informed consent, and how to convey information about risk, especially where the level of scientific knowledge is inadequate to quantity that risk. Some of these issues are discussed in this paper.
