AnnotationThe active and stable catalyst for N2O decomposition in the waste gas from nitric acid production is still the aim of research despite many efforts have been made in this area. Mixed oxide catalysts prepared by thermal treatment of layered double hydroxides (LDHs) are the promising systems for catalytic N2O removal. Improvement of the catalyst performance can be achieved by modification of surface properties with alkali promoters. However, the experiments performed in a real off-gas from HNO3 acid plant are still missing. In this contribution, Co-Mn-Al LDH-related mixed oxides doped with alkali metals (Li, Na or K) were tested as catalysts for N2O decomposition. Long-term stability in the presence of inhibiting co-reactants (O2, H2O, NOx) was also examined.
