    AnnotationThis study demonstrates the advantages of incorporating ZrO2 on TiO2 for the properties of binary oxides. Most of the parameters of TiO2 such as particle size, surface area, anatase phase, and thermal stability can be well controlled by the addition of small amounts of ZrO2. The formation of the srilankite phase (ZrTiO4) in the mixed ZrO2–TiO2 oxides is shown and its amount depends on the preparation method. It was shown that ZrO2 plays an important role in promoting the formation of nanoparticles with anatase structure, high surface area and acidity. The nanoparticles size in the mixed oxides, prepared by two methods, determined by TEM and XRD is around 50nm.
