AnnotationBiphenyl dioxygenase and the 2,3-dihydroxybiphenyl dioxygenase can be produced actively in transgenic plants. Both enzymes catalyze critical steps of the bacterial polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) degrading pathway. Their introduction into plants improves rhizoremediation.
