The effect of antitumor cisplatin and inefficient transplatin on the structure and stability of G-quadruplex and on the activity of human telomerase was examined. The results indicate that cisplatin is more efficient than transplatin to disturb quadruplex structure and that DNA adducts of cisplatin inhibit telomerase catalysis.
